Chitwan National Park is home for a wide variety of flora and fauna. It’s a beautiful place to spend days in the charm of nature, doing an interesting activity each day. There’s so much to do and so much to see that a day or couple of it wouldn’t be enough to “eat’ everything mother nature offers. Here is the list of must-do activities in Chitwan National Park.
Chitwan Jungle Safari
Its a much-sought activity for both international and domestic tourist in Chitwan National Park. The Jungle safari drives you deep inside the jungle and wetlands of the park for the exotic view of birds, musk deer, wild boars, and one-horned rhinoceros. If you are lucky enough, you can also encounter endangered Bengal Tiger close enough.
You can visit the Jungle in a jeep or also walk along the way- but walking involves so much risk. Jeep Safari is the best option you can get.
Canoeing in the Rapti river and Narayani River, watching the birds and crocodiles living on the banks of the river is fun. The mugger and gharials crocodile live in Narayani and Rapti rivers. These “water beasts” live under water during the night and can be spotted in the surface during the day. The two rivers hold the most crocodiles in Nepal and canoeing in them is the best way to observe the animals and plants.
Elephant and Crocodile Breeding Center
The Park has a separate breeding center for the elephants and crocodiles that were founded to maintain the population of these animals.
The breeding center of Crocodile lies in the route of jungle safari itself. The center breeds gharials and water alligators and documents their growth from an egg to a full-fledged crocodile. The crocodile breeding center is a place to learn the habits of these river monsters. Further, the elephant breeding center is equally prodigious.
The park is a home for a wide range of species of birds- about 544 species of birds is found in Chitwan alone. You can spot the bird species as Bengal Florican, Black-Chinned Yuhina, Gould’s Sunbird, Lesser Adjutant, Blossom-Headed Parakeet, and Swamp Francolin. Chitwan National Park is a paradise for every bird watcher and the bird lover in the world.
Watching Sunset is one of much-enjoyed activity in Chitwan. The sunset view from here is spectacular- the sun vanishing in the jungle of Chitwan looks beautiful. Also, the sunset can be observed from Rapti River where the most domestic international tourists, gather during the evening to watch the sunset.
Cultural dance of Tharu Village:
The traditional Tharu communities live around Chitwan National Park. The Tharus are the native of this area. Further, you can witness their villages around the park. They also perform special Tharu dance in the evening.
