There are a few other ways to reach Poon Hill from Kathmandu besides trekking. In this article, we are going to discuss the best options for Getting to Poon Hill from Kathmandu.

Getting to Pokhara from Kathmandu

Pokhara is a gateway for trekking Annapurna Region. It is the largest city in Nepal which is famous among the tourist. The city itself has many popular destinations as Phewa Lake, Sarangkot, Mahendra Cave, and the World Peace Pagoda.

By Airways

Airways is an easy and quick way to reach Pokhara which takes only around 30 minutes to fly from Tribhuvan International Airport. Daily demotic flights are available from Kathmandu to Pokhara.

If you have limited time to explore Nepal, it is the best option as you can witness some beautiful Himalayas ranges and hills during the flight. The cost of a flight is around USD 135 per person one way.

By Road

Most of the tourists travel to Pokhara on a tourist bus which is around 7 – 8 hours of drive.

Instead of the local bus, you are suggested to get tourists bus as it provides better facilities. It costs only a couple of dollars more for facilities like WiFi, Charging Port and Air Conditioning.

Or, you can also hire a private car as per your group size. It takes only 5 – 6 hours to reach Pokhara in a private car.

Getting to Poonhill from Pokhara

Nayapul is the first station for Poon Hill trek. Your real journey to Poon Hill starts from Nayapul.

From Pokhara to Nayapul

You can get a local bus or a deluxe bus from Zero km or Baglung BusPark that takes you to Nayapul. Pokhara to Nayapul is only 45.5 km in total. You can also hire a car or jeep which is a bit costly but more comfortable and fun.

Nayapul to Ulleri

There is not any local bus to Ulleri. So you can either hire a jeep from Nayapul or trek to Ulleri and crash for the night there. Instead, if you have only 3 days itinerary, you can hire a jeep from Pokhara that takes you all the way to Ulleri.

Ulleri to Poonhill

Hiking through the steep stony stairs is the only way you can get from Ulleri to Poonhill.

Traveling back from Poonhill to Pokhara

Now, you will also get two alternatives to get from Poonhill to Pokhara

Option One

Trek back to Ulleri and get a jeep to Nayapul/ Pokhara.

Option Two

Hike all the way to Tapapani and then to Ghandruk. From Ghandruk, you can get a local bus to Pokhara. Or, you can also hire a jeep from Ghandruk to Nayapul and then get a bus in Nayapul. But tourist prefers to hire a jeep all the way to Pokhara as it is a more comfortable option.

The cheapest way to reach Poon Hill from Kathmandu

The cheapest way to reach Poon Hill from Kathmandu is to get a local bus or a Microbus from Kathmandu to Nayapul. It will cost $7 – $10 depending on the types of bus or microbus you choose.
