Bag weight for Everest packing

Everest Base Camp packing lists always starts with a durable, easy to carry pack. For flying to Jomsom, you can carry a 15 kg bag. In guided trekking, your porter carries 10kg of weight while you need to carry 5 kg on your own. So, pack only whatever is necessary and important to pack– nothing more, nothing less.

Map: Get a map to track the distances and plan accordingly.

Backpack: Get a sturdy hiking backpack which can carry all your checklist items.

Trekking Permits: You will need  two trekking permit for your journey  (three if you travel from jiri). The permits can be taken from Kathmandu. This is most important Everest packing lists.

A bottle for water: A liter bottle that you can refill with filtered or pre-boiled water.

Cash: Since there’s no ATM during the trekking route, it’s a good idea to carry sufficient local currency.

A sleeping bag: Get a standard 3-seasons sleeping bag- the one you buy in Nepal might be quite heavy. Sleeping bag is an essential Everest packing.

A small medical kit: A first aid medical kit will be very helpful in case of an emergency.

These are the least amount of clothes necessary in Everest packing lists.

  • A fleece jacket,
  • Two pairs of easy drying trousers,
  • A pair of waterproof trousers
  • Lightweight and fast-weight three T-shirts (synthetic fabrics – not cotton),
  • A jumper or light fleece goes best.
  • Lightly broken-in trekking boots,
  • 3 pairs of Trekking socks
  • A lightweight, fast-drying pullover or fleece
  • 3 sets of underwear
  • Sneakers or sandals
  • Raincoat,
  • Gloves, woolen hat,
  • A hat and a set of Glove
  • A scarf or balaclava.
  • A lightweight waterproof jacket
  • An insulating jacket or vest
